Biography

Li Senkai, a student of Professors Song Ruyao and Li Shiying, began his involvement in plastic surgery while studying and working in South Ward II, which was supervised by Li Shiying. His main work involved the treatment of patients with post-burn scars and hypospadias. Through this rigorous training, he laid a solid foundation in plastic surgery; the principles and techniques of plastic surgery imparted to him continue to nourish his academic development to this day. Later, when working independently, he received funding from the Ministry of Health-affiliated hospitals' Key Clinical Discipline Project Fund, the Natural Science Foundation, the University Doctoral Program Fund, the US China Medical Board (CMB) Fund, and other sources. He led the team in comprehensive and systematic research on hypospadias, greatly raising the academic level and simultaneously helping improve the treatment level of other diseases. He improved the scrotal septum vascular-neuropedicled island flap for urethral reconstruction invented by Li Shiying into a scrotal septum flying-cicada-shaped skin graft—flap for urethral reconstruction, reducing the original complications. This is the best return and memorial for a student inheriting his teacher's academic thought. He advocates democratic academic discussion and respects the opinions of young doctors. In those years, Chen Wen was the first to propose at a departmental discussion the use of oral mucosa for urethral reconstruction, which inspired him to invent the mucosa—flap coupling method for urethral reconstruction; it achieved good results, and Dr. Li Qiang wrote the paper, which was published in The Journal of Urology. Leveraging the strength of the team promoted the development of the cause. With the joint efforts of the team, he also invented particulate oral mucosa for vaginal reconstruction, which has been widely promoted in China. Thanks to strict family upbringing and the absence of bad habits, he is still able to perform specialized skill-intensive procedures. Recognizing that people's differences lie in their spare time, he has consciously developed a reading habit, combining professional reading with reading for intellectual interest. He is also good at learning from experts in other specialties, absorbing knowledge useful for his professional development, enriching himself, and compensating for shortcomings, thereby elevating his specialty to a higher level. For example, by studying mechanical principles, he applied lifting mechanics to facial and cervical rejuvenation, as well as suture mechanics and knot-tying mechanics, all of which have played a good role in ensuring surgical outcomes. He focuses on research into improving medical devices and has obtained 65 national utility model patents and 3 invention patents.

Technical specialties: He only performs specialized skill-intensive procedures. Using his self-invented minimally invasive buried-guide technique for facial and cervical lifting rejuvenation, in the force application zone, force-bearing zone, and effect zone of facial soft tissue lifting and suspension, all conform to mechanical principles; it does not preclude the subsequent performance of other rejuvenation techniques. After integrated application of many techniques, it achieves better cosmetic results and has therefore become a core foundational technique among many rejuvenation methods; repositioning and fixation of the malar fat pad (apple-cheek plasty) can make the nasolabial folds and Indian lines shallower; correction of post-traumatic expression depression: based on plastic surgery principles, it reveals that the essence of post-traumatic expression depression is caused by fat and muscle rupture with ectopic attachment. The timing of treatment is selected according to wound healing principles. Based on anatomical reduction principles and three-dimensional concepts, a dedicated suture needle is used with the buried-guide suture technique for surgery, leaving no incisional scar on the face; transconjunctival incision with orbital septal fat release and fixation to correct eye bags, avoiding uncomfortable symptoms of eyelid retraction in later life; facial scar excision and suturing; various minimally invasive scar release procedures: through a minimally invasive incision, the scar is released within the dermis, and in situ fat automatically fills the area, which can prolong the release and softening of the scar; excision of skin at the penile base to correct redundant prepuce, without leaving a scar on the distal penis, while preserving the original relationship between the frenulum and the inner and outer preputial layers; bionic painless dilation for pediatric phimosis, relieving the constriction and compression of the penis by phimosis as early as possible, which can promote free penile development and facilitate cleaning.
